Nine Women, One Dress by Jane L. Rosen

The novel is a series of intertwined short stories of nine very different women and the same little black dress. It begins at the dressmaker, moves to a fashion show where it becomes “the dress” of the season, to the ladies’ department of Bloomingdale’s and then in and out of the lives of women. The stories show how the dress impacts the women’s lives and the people around them. Can a dress really change your life? “I can promise you it wasn’t those ill-fitting glass slippers that gave Cinderella the confidence to crash that ball. It was the dress—the dress made her do it!” I found the characters and stories cleverly written and a fun read. – Jacqueline C.

The chick-flick of books!
If the pink book cover didn't give it away, this is definitely a book for your feminine side. A great, light read for a rainy day. The little black dress gives any girl hope for that whirlwind romance.

I loved listening to this book! It was the audio equivalent of an excellent romantic film.

This was a quick, cute, and easy read. There may have been a few too many different POVs that it did feel like the story had multiple endings and this felt like more of a compilation of vignettes than it was a novel. I liked the characters well enough, and, while some of them seemed to only be in existence for a point of later comedy which felt a little unnecessary, but all-in-all this was a good read.

This was a fun book, I think the title was the only thing I didn't like.

The story revolves around one dress that ends up being THE dress of the season and how it affects nine different women. From affairs and new relationships all the way to the morgue!
I enjoyed this book and it was interesting to see how some of these women became linked. It reminded me of Love, Actually but for fashion! My two favorite stories were about Natalie/Jeremy and Arthur/Felicia and they had the most heart in the book. My one complaint (and why it's not four stars) is that some of the big climactic scenes for our heroines seems rushed and could use more detail. One or two story lines popped up out of nowhere and then didn't really seem to go anywhere. While many of the women intertwined with each other because of this dress, a couple only had a connection to the dress and that made them less interesting. There were a few pathetic characters and the author wrote them well. Each character had their own personality and they weren't just two-dimensional. It was funny and charming and, at times, a little heartbreaking for all the right reasons.
It's a pleasant read and I would have kept on reading if the author made it longer. Solid 3 stars.

a quick, cute, relaxing read of stories intertwining with each other, and how one dress affects it all -- a very unique and interesting concept.
