While Sanderson remains my favorite author from a celebrity standpoint, I'm starting to really feel dragged down by his prose and the samey-ness of all of his works. Hopefully I get over it since I've already purchased his five new books.

Short fantasy about Shai, captured and forced to recreate a soul.

Exactly what I want a fantasy book to be like, with magic that is subtle and dramatic at the same time and protagonists who need to do the right things and evil characters wanting power and wealth. Less than 150 pages, so finished in 1 day.

Extremely enjoyable, a great novella to read in one sitting. I was surprised at the depth of the book, I normally feel that short stories are somewhat lacking but this story was completely satisfying.
