What a fascinating magic system, the idea of stamps nudging the soul by changing the history. Intriguing! Wish it was longer, there are so many glimpses into characters that I would love to explore more

A forger is found guilty and faces death but her help is needed in a very delicate matter...
This is an ordinary fantasy story with no surprises. I liked the magical system that the author built around "forgery", a pretty unique idea and it was unfortunate that the life-or-death race didn't allow more exploration. Only later I learnt that this is one of the author's trademarks, and rightly so. The story itself was well written with good pacing but I would have loved to see better characters, they never left their self imposed limits and felt flat. Stories like that are the reason why I am careful with mainstream fantasy. While there is no doubt that they are entertaining, they don't challenge the reader and leave no mark.

I think I've gotta revisit this one at a later date. I enjoyed it, but I felt there was something...lacking? Not sure what, but it may just be that I finished reading Warbreaker yesterday and so I went into this expecting more of Sanderson's typical thorough worldbuilding and was thrown off when I didn't get it. Also just not used to reading short stories/novellas.

A really interesting novella which I read in Arcanum Unbounded. I really like the magic system used in this. It took me a while to really enjoy the book, although I was finding it interesting, but the latter parts were fantastic.
