I have been excitedly waiting for this story. However I have to be honest and say that I prefer Ford more than I did Nate. Sorry, not sorry. And while I enjoyed Nyx (and love her name) I did have one major issue with her. I really enjoyed this book but also had a hard time with it because I kept feeling like Nyx was a complete pushover. Don't get me wrong, I think she is a strong character and was pissed when she got wrongfully terminated (que Pierce and I loved the crossover!! Can't wait for his story). But it bothered me that she just basically handed her life over to Nate. HE bothered me because he just didn't seem to care about her opinion. Oh he acted like he did but he more or less controlled the whole situation. And while I understood that Nyx needed a break and help she just kept acting like a doormat. She just let his assistant research and make appointment after appointment for her. She let Nate control her shopping experience. She traveled back and forth with him. She ate whenever he gave her food. Then it bothered me when her family showed up and he couldn't even let them dot or help take care of her. He didn't even care that her family was concerned about her. I do have to say I'm glad that she didn't take up his offer to work for him. Though I was also irritated when he kept saying that he didn't think it was a good fit for her. Seriously!! Let the woman have some control and make her own decisions. Alright, I think my rant is over. I really enjoyed this story and had a hard time putting it down. But as I said I also was easily irritated with it all. I'm looking forward to Eros's story now and hope that his love interest keeps him hanging because he irritating me at the beginning of this story too... (lol). *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*

Okay, this is, hands-down, one of the best slow-burn, friends-to-lovers romances I've read, or in this case, listened to. It's always a good bet that Claudia Burgoa is gonna take you on a fantastic journey with her characters, and this one was extra special. I was caught up from the beginning and loved everything about this love story. Due to circumstances, Nate and Nyx take their time and they become the best of friends. Nate is pretty much the perfect best friend/love interest. He's sweet, generous, thoughtful, protective, witty, and he says the most wonderful things at just the right time. If Nyx hadn't fallen in love with him. I was completely ready to throw my hat in the ring (just sayin'). Most of the key players in Didn't Expect You were introduced in Wrong Text, Right Love, including our romantic couple here, so if you haven't checked that one out, I highly recommend it. Technically, you can read this as a standalone, but you'll want every minute you can get with this crazy bunch. Since this is the audiobook, I have to mention the wonderful narration. And just check out that list of narrators! I'd listened to most of these before, so I expected good things, and they delivered. All the feels come through loud and clear, and I was completely immersed in the story.
Super swoony. Nate is the hero I’ve always wanted. He takes care of Nyx without demand and good gracious is it hot! This is a super slow burn story, but it needed to be. I really enjoyed this one!

Nyx is the most normal person in her family. Her life as a lawyer has been all work and no play and she is starting to get bored with it. Nate is a billionaire playboy and Nyx's sister's future brother-in-law who, no matter how many times he is told to stay away, is attracted to Nyx and tries to get her to agree to a no strings attached relationship. After avoiding Nate, a one-night stand with another guy and a positive pregnancy later, Nate is adamant about helping Nyx with her pregnancy and the baby.
Didn't Expect You is a friends to lovers billionaire romance. This was my first book by Claudia Burgoa, and sadly it was a struggle for me. It is an extremely slow burn romance. Nate and Nyx started as friends and grew from there, but I just felt no chemistry between them. The banter between them was cute and entertaining, but that was really the only thing that kept me going through this book.
