Cute little short story to start the year off. A mindfuck I wouldn't mind a full length story about. I don't think enough (or any) books really turn themselves on their head and are willing to have unresolved or unclear endings. But it makes things a lot more interesting

didn’t love the ending but enjoyed the rest! i think it could’ve easily been expanded into a novella

liked the 1st twist but the 2nd twist made the plot a bit unrealistic

As always, I absolutely loved Gillian Flynn's writing. It never fails to captivate me and I breezed through this, especially because it is a short story. I did enjoy the premise of the story, but it just wasn't flushed out enough for my liking. Because it's so short, it was very fast-paced and I felt like it was over before it really began, but short stories just aren't really my forte.
I felt like this could have easily been turned into a novel and I would've enjoyed it a lot more, but overall it was entertaining even if just for a little while. I just love the way that Flynn writes and I knew I wasn't going to enjoy this as much as Gone Girl because it is a short story, but I just had to read it anyways. I will read anything she publishes, no doubt, and I'm really glad I did read this. It's been a while since I've read Gone Girl and I had almost forgotten how much I love Flynn's writing.

A decently creepy story sandwiched by a really chatty, exposition dump beginning and a REALLY chatty, exposition dump ending. I knew where this shit was going the second The Haunting of Hill House and The Turn of the Screw started getting mentioned, goddammit, and the middle where it starts getting strange and suspicious was truly where Flynn shines with the tale. People be fuckin' lying! All over the place! And even though the logic of the ending I GUESS makes sense, I just wish it was wrapped up more elegantly.

Quite a good short story. I really enjoyed the layers this one has where you dont really know by the end what is actually going on. Leaving us in the same boat as the main character. Hopeful and lost
