Man, the beginning of this is hard to take. For the first 25% I was like "how in hell is it possible that I liked this book before??" ... I was pretty close to a DNF. Jamie is such an unbelievable doormat that really... it just kills me. And Nick is the biggest piece of shit ... his POV chapters are tough to get through.

Then they both start to change, and it gets much better. But man, the opening quarter or so was really tough.

This book was really, really good, but I can't get myself to give this a 5 stars, because the sugar addict thing kinda annoyed me, and it was there constantly during the book.
But everything else about it was amazing.

"His little recluse". I swear, 40% of this book is that phrase.

Just like literally every R.L. Mathewson romance I ever read, this one got me good. No over-the-top-dramma, no miss-communication that set me screaming, no annoying, bitchy heroines, no love triangles... Just laughter and fun and sooo swoon-worthy characters (Oh, Gods, NICK!). Anyway, I can always trust this author to get me out of reading slumps and devouring books without a second thought.

Loved it!!!

I liked this book so much more than the first of the series. It was much more fun and had me laughing and smiling the whole way through. Who can resist a loveable bad boy?

Jamie is a reclusive, shy and easily intimidated writer/book editor who has just brought her client list as well as her own best sellers to a new publisher. She is assigned to work with Nick; a love'em and leave'em kind of guy. Initially amused by her timidness and awkwardness, he becomes intrigued by the woman desperately trying to forge a new and exciting life for herself to make up for years of veiled insults and cruel neglect of her family. As Nick begins to peel away her shyness and helps her cross items off her "List" of life experiences he begins to fall fast for the sweet and loving woman he first thought to exploit on the way to a better career. Just great.

I really enjoyed this story! It did focus more on Jamie's background than Nick's, but the story was enjoyable none the less for it. I was able to form a connection to both characters, and enjoyed watching Jamie grow more confident, the more in love with Nick she fell. The story was heart-wrenching at times as well! I really felt for Jamie quite a bit in this story! Overall, I found it to be an enjoyable way to spend an evening!

Jamie can't believe she has gotten the nerve to actually sign with Rerum publishing in two different capacities, one as editor to the clients she already had and the other as the next best selling author. The biggest hurdle for Jamie now is that although she signed, it didn't require her to leave the comfort of her home. A recluse who has always felt inferior in her family, Jamie doesn't even have a close friend to turn to during this new transition of her life.

Enter Nick, Nick playboy and flirt is amused by the baggy closed, bottle glasses, frizzy haired new hire at Rerum. If anything Jamie will be a source of entertainment for him to watch, until he realizes she is the author he wants to take under his wing. A makeover, a tour, and a revealed list of all the things Jamie want to do but has been to afraid to try. Nick's little recluse is full of surprises and the playboy is finding himself completely falling in love with her.

I thought this was adorable. Nick is a bit curt with Jamie in the beginning, but as you get to know him you realize that he is not able to relate to Jamie initially, but as she comes out of her shell a bit they find they have more in common than they think. Can't wait for more in this series.

**Better the second time around.

3 Stars.

I liked this follow up much better than the first in the series. The characters were much more flawed. They were also a bit more typical RL-style characters. But I didn't mind because I like RL and I generally know what to expect from her at this point.

I thought the list stuff was cute. Both lists. I wish we had gotten a better glimpse of what the original list had on it though. Other than riding a motorcycle and going to a chocolate convention, we didn't get to hear much about it. Of course we got the whole jist of the second list which was funny and nice. I even didn't mind how it all played out. I know I'm being vague, but it's so I don't give anything away.

Anyway. Good characters. Cute story. Classic RL. If you like RLM, you will like this book.
