This book was beautiful in my opinion. i loved how it went over the topic of teenagers and mental illnesses and the sad truth. the way it ended in the epilogue made me cry, but not in a sad way. it somehow filled me with hope that no matter how bad things get, it will always get good again. i guess i’m also biased because of how much i can relate to charlie, but i found this book truly beautiful. it touches some serious topics, for example: suicide, self harm, depression, anxiety, death, SA, and child abuse. however, it also focuses on love and friendships and healing. i loved seeing charlie slowly develop throughout the book. i love how it is written too. i read this twice. would read again.

This is my second time reading this book, with the first time me being in high school. Reading it now after learning and growing, it has that much more of an impact. An absolutely amazing book that I think everyone should read at least once in their lifetime. The movie is also a great representation of the book, with keeping the key points and plot.

I love this book so very deeply. Chbosky writes teenagers and the struggles of trauma so very well.

Basically The Catcher in the Rye if The Catcher in the Rye was actually good. Charlie is a fascinating and loveable character and him and his friends are incredibly deep and well written. Reading this novel really feels like you are taking a look into someone’s life. The gay representation in this novel is fantastic, especially considering it was still a taboo thing to write about when this novel was published. This is a must read for (especially) teenagers and adults alike, who like slice of life or growing up stories about loss of innocence.
