I have read this book before when I was a senior in high school and I thought to re-read it for a bit of a refresher. I forgot how great the advice is from this book! It’s extremely helpful with all the tips and advice Cal gives in the text that I have put to practice in my last 3 years of college. Now, after re-reading it, I will be putting more of the tips into practice and I am hoping to see more of an increase in my productivity & time management.

The quick and dirty guide to college success. Tips themselves aren't anything groundbreaking, but Newport's mental approach (anyone can be exceptional without being a total grind or sacrificing leisure) was refreshing.

Such a great book giving advice for being a successful college student. He gives insightful stories and funny dad jokes to keep you engaged in the material. I wish I would’ve read this my freshman year! I took away some amazing advice that I’m going to try out this semester!!

Some wonderful advice! It has inspired me so much, and I am not going to look back from this point! This book has helped me to concretely visualize a kind of life I have always wanted, and now I know what I need to do to get it. I recommend this book for every student going to college, so that they too can make the best of their time there.

An inspiring book that covers many aspects of the academic life as a student. There were plenty of things in here I haven't considered until now and the advice given is definitely something worth trying.

There wasn't any advice in this book that I hadn't heard before. Maybe it's because it's common knowledge or I happened to get that exact advice. It is still useful as a reminder of why all the things are important.

Cute read with some good tips, but mostly useless if one is not American.

I am a big fan of Newport's ideas and research about studying and focus techniques, but this book just disappoints.

I was looking for some insightful ideas about how to study more efficiently, but instead I've got advice like "Never nap" or "Dress nicely for class". Not the kind of advice I was expecting for what the title promised.

I am rating it one star because of the book's minimalist approach to providing content that is straight to the point, and I didn't have to spend more time reading unnecessary filler words.
