The main character has little memory and their sex, colour, age and origin are all in doubt. They are discovered in church and meet the locals, good folks to their own thinking, without talking Pew revels them to us. We never find out about Pew and the ending is ambiguous.

Not sure what to think other than I know I really enjoyed this and its ambiguity. It definitely gave Shirley Jackson The Lottery vibes. This town and community is a whole lot of sinister and Pew definitely had them reckoning with themselves and why they’ve done.

2.5 maybe. I really wanted to like this book. Hoped it might be a bit like Shirley Jackson’s, “The Lottery,” but it was just boring and I couldn’t really get. Sense or Pew at all. An interesting writer but not for me.
