This book was heart-wrenching to read. Oh my goodness. There’s been a storyline about going up again the KKK in all of these books, but it really moved to center focus in this book. Hush’s backstory was devastating. Watching Cowboy and Sia love him and support him through his heartache was beautiful. While I did love it, it felt like I didn’t enjoy it as much as the other books. It is significantly shorter so maybe less attachment or something but still a very good read.

Elysia - known to all as Sia - has been hiding from her life for years. From a single mistake that cost her more than she has begun to deal with. Hush doesn’t speak of the horror that his life as the beloved child of an interracial marriage but raised in small town Louisiana. And Cowboy charms the world as he tries to atone for youthful discretions that nearly cost him his soul.

This was a fascinating story that had SO MUCH going on. There are layers of racism and systemic beliefs that are ingrained in children starting in infancy. There are discussion of how no matter how much progress is made - interracial couples are still viewed as strange. There are conversations about making a mistake as a teenager and what happens when you go to atone. And meanwhile there is a throuple forming in a way that is organic and fascinating.

Unlike many of Hades Hangmen - most of this really doesn’t have to do with the MC - it is more about the silence that people hold to hold themselves together and the cost of pervasive isolation and loneliness. Cowboy, Hush and Sia are all so intensely lonely and it is heartbreaking. I do wish I had seen more of them falling and pining for each other? That seemed to just - happen? But their chemistry as a throuple is beautiful.

This story is really well build up around Hush. I loved it and it made me cry.
Just thought Sia and Cowboys thing (don't wanna spoil) got a little rushed.

So far this is the first book in the Hangmen series that had me crying. Not just one time either. I cried during multiple parts! I didn’t expect that at all. It was completely welcome.

I have loved every Hangmen book so far. Each one has disturbing elements, they’re dirty, they’re raw, they’re a fantasy. Completely make believe. My favorite thing about reading is that I get to be in a different world every single time I pick up a book. For some reason the Hangmen is my most favorite world to be in.

I’m not big on this whole threesome stuff, but I figured I’d give it a shot because HELLO TILLIE COLE WROTE IT and I have never been disappointed with any story she has written. And let me just say that I’m so glad that I went into this with an open mind, like I do all her books. It made me enjoy this story. It made me see things from a different angle.

Not everyone will agree on who your heart and soul chooses to love. And that shouldn’t matter. Your happiness is the only thing that should matter.

Love doesn’t see color. Only pure hearts. And this book definitely showed it.
