This was very different, especially the format. I was extremely invested at first, but the absurdity of this book made me lower my ratings. Our main character is one dimensional and we don't feel very connected to her at all. Our kidnapper is this horrible, deranged weirdo that the book tries to play off as a "misunderstood, gentle soul".  I know we're reading the book as a letter and it's all from her perspective, but it's still frustrating to read.
Not to mention that she had several chances at escaping or unaliving him but she just didn't.

Overall, it was okay, I'm just not sure how I feel about it tbh.

This book was nothing like I’ve ever read. It follows the story of a girl who was kidnapped by and man, and what her life was like living with him. There was a lot of emotion behind this book and honestly, I really enjoy it. It gave us a perspective that not other books in this line do. We see a more gentle kidnapper than we normally read about, and how he puts her first in the end. I highly recommend this book, but there are some triggers, given the topic.

*Warning: May contain spoilers.*
I've actually rated this novel 3.5 stars.

At first, I thought the storyline was unrealistic and kind of creepy. Imagine having a dude nine years older than you, stalking you since you were 10.

~Shudder~

Ty was a man almost a decade older than Gemma who was only a 16-year-old teenager - and he kidnapped her, hoping that she would fall in love with him. Yeah, tell me again, why wouldn't it sound creepy and pedo-ish? If Ty was a little younger than he was, say... 19-22, I would totally dig the storyline, but because he sounds so old, I find the story creepy.

I estimate that Ty is about 25, but throughout the story, his appearance changes. I visualise him differently every time. At first, he sounds young, then he sounds big and buff, small and vulnerable, a carefree teenager and then a scruffy beggar. I just find it so hard when he changes from a big and buff to small and vulnerable. He doesn't sound... normal. (Not that he is.)

I feel sorry for Gemma when she first gets kidnapped, but her stubbornness is so annoying and frustrating! And when she 'accidentally' wrecks Ty's painting - I feel sorry for the big guy. I guess she learns how to accept the land and Ty but it was too late.
SpoilerShe just had to get bitten.

I actually went a bit teary at the end, when
SpoilerGemma was taken on the plane. Ty hands himself in, for her safety, because she wanted him to stay with her, and I just couldn't contain my feelings and tears when Gemma was in hospital. All the sound and noise, and all the she could think about was Ty in custody.

In the end, I felt as if I connected to the land as well, and even though I'm Australian myself. I live in the city and have never ever experienced what it was like in the desert or the outback. I would never have survived as long as Gemma. I connected with Gemma and the land and learnt about the way the land speaks.

All in all, I thought the novel was amazing towards the end and so, I'm rating Stolen 3.5 stars.

I am so confused. Confused with the high ratings, confused with my rating, confused with everything basically.
I had high expectations for this when I picked it up because of the very high ratings and also the interesting premise.

What I got: Some dude stalking a MINOR for 6 YEARS. She was TEN. Then he kidnaps her and brings her to literally the middle of nowhere for the sole purpose of COMPANY, and because he knew since she was ten that she was DIFFERENT.
Then he expects her to love the place, promising that he would never hurt her. What on earth? I read through the whole thing expecting something different—a page turner, but it all fell short and guess what? THE WHOLE BOOK WAS A LETTER. Miss girlie was drugged and traumatized but still managed to make a whole ass book detailing everything. She remembers more than I do in a day. Even drugged.

I'mma give ya'll a breakdown of this book:
Girlie gets in a fight with her mom at the airport-talks to some random dude who has 'startling blue eyes'-gets drugged and kidnapped to Australia-tries to escape-can't escape-gets rebellious-guy tells her she can leave after four months-starts liking guy-gets bitten by a snake-guy turns himself in-BOOM, it's all a letter. THE END.

This book was so amazing and I never wanted to put it down. It was thrill and suspense put together in the most perfect way that made you want to continue reading. I honestly wished for a different ending but the ending the book had was sweet and simple and concluded things in a way that that does not make one mad or upset about. I love how we never find out the name of the kidnapper and the way they met was so beautiful that it was all surreal. This book made me feel like I was in it, I felt like it was a movie playing in my head or a dream. This usually happens when I read books but this time felt different and it was good! I'm really glad I found this book and I had the weekend to read which was so calming and relaxing so I definitely recommend this book.

This book is just completely fantastic! I can clearly imagine the Sandy Desert and Separates in my own way. But now that I've finished the book, they won't leave my head, nor will Gemma or Ty! This beautiful piece of work has destroyed my life in the most phenomenal way ever. And I mean that in a good way! I cried after finishing this book and it will forever stay with me! I dearly hope there is a sequel or a movie that will go along with it. <3 Perfect read, couldn't have asked for more. Now, lets see if I'll be able to find another book that matches this one's greatness. I doubt I will.

This was such a breath-taking story. Breath-taking yet disturbing. It is a truly amazing thing to experience someone's emotions in such an eerie way. To be so scared of someone but at the same time so intrigued, to be in the eyes of someone Stolen.

After Gemma was kidnapped in an airport to find herself in the middle of the desert, with not a soul near her, except for Ty. Her abductor. Yet this boy won't hurt her, could never hurt her. Because, he loves her. But why? Little does Gemma know, this boy has known her longer then she will ever know. Could she love him too?

With each and every day passing in the heat and isolate desert she tries to grasp on to the reality outside of her imprisonment, but with each day that passes, her reality seems to as well..

Could someone love a man as disturbing as Ty? Yet I felt these emotions that Gemma did, in a way almost feeling sorry for him.

That in itself doesn't make sense.

This was so beautifully written, haunting, disturbing, yet I felt lost in the place where no one else existed.

Were you could be..Stolen...
