Very sweet whilst also quite grim yet relevant at points. Andrew and Jamie are great narrators and whilst I wished we had spent more time on certain feelings and histories, and less repeating of already stated or implied descriptions and such,  I still found it a very entertaining  and refreshingly earnest read.

I absolutely loved this book. It was so sweet, even in the darkest parts I still felt hope for the characters and for humanity.

This was a really cute book. I stayed awake til 5am to read it.

I only wished it could have been more fleshed out? Like, I felt like each event was meant to be a part of its own but it sort of felt rushed and/or confusing and unnecessary?

But, anyway, if it was worth reading?
I'd say yes.

This book was ... wow. It was so raw and gentle and tender and gutting. It was sad and brutal and soft all at once, and so many of the topics and themes were almost a little too close to home, given the past three years.
Normally I don't love the whole "I have feelings but I can't tell him!" trope, but this book did it right. Instead of dancing around how they actually felt, they just got closer to each other and loved each other for the bulk of the story. Even though secrets were being kept, it didn't feel like the world was going to end when they were unveiled. They were still able to love each other and be so tender and gentle with each other, even though they hadn't explicitly stated their feelings yet. And that made me love every part of their relationship. (Though I could have done without Andrew's automatic assumption that Jamie was straight. Like, come on, my dude.)
The only reason this isn't getting five stars is due to the writing. It felt jerky and halting at times, and was sometimes hard to get into as a result. I almost didn't give the book a chance due to how choppy it felt, as I was worried I wouldn't be able to get into it. Yet I still managed to sit down with this book and read it cover to cover in one sitting.
So I definitely recommend this, if you'd like to be swept away by sad, heartfelt end of the world romance for a while.

This book is so good!! It focuses a lot on the inner-monologues of the characters while also being action-packed. The chapters bounce between two POVs so you really get to know both characters. It’s almost freakishly real, especially after Covid, but not too similar to the point where it’s particularly disturbing (in my opinion). Some parts of this book are disturbing, such as violence, the general nature of the “super-flu”, and a lot of bodies, but it’s also a post-apocalyptic story so it kinda comes with the package. The romance is subtle and not the main focus of the story which is also nice because, for once, the conflict in the story does not revolve around being LGBTQ+. However, I do think it correctly addresses the concerns and conflicts that would arise as an LGBTQ+ person in the apocalypse. Overall, this book is well-written, emotional, balanced, and entertaining.
