She does a good job breaking down the inner workings of the points trans activists make. I also liked the research that was included as I thought it strengthened her arguments. You can clearly tell the one-star reviewers did not read the book and are in their own echo chamber, but what can you do?
I think this would be a good read for someone just peaking, but for me it mostly repeated stuff I already knew but without any real nuance. Still, very well done and informative.

This is an excellent book - I will finish it, once I'm back in a non-fiction mood (I'm a huge "mood-reader"). It's well researched, not emotional, very straight-forward, and still respectful of the sensitive issues discussed. Highly recommend!

Excellent, incisive dissection of trans ideology and of its progression through Western society mainly via clever lobbying techniques. Much of the relevant legislation was made (or is being proposed) with good and kind intentions towards trans people who, as Joyce acknowledges 'have difficult lives'. She goes on to clearly outline the unintended, often devastating, consequences for other groups, such as women, children and same-sex attracted people. The book is meticulously researched and brims with logical, evidence-based information. Its rational tone is a welcome relief amid the hysterical verbiage of the culture wars. I saw no trace of anti-semitism. Highly recommended if you're looking for a summary of what's going on and how we've got to where we are.

Bad research AND antisemitism: this book has it all.

Read with satisfaction a clear-headed analysis of transactivism and the nonsensical "logical" underpinnings of the movement (I self-declare therefore I am—biology and science be damned), and the societal damage resulting from "unforeseen consequences" of the uncritical embrace of this ideology by social institutions.

However, I differ with the author on many of her personal views stated as fact (or as "good")—evolution, abortion, same-sex marriage.

So, we can disagree on matters and still find common ground. And we do on the matter of tranactivism.
