both more and less enjoyable than six of crows in that the structure and storytelling weakened and some parts felt drawn out, repetitive, or were included just because without really contributing to the overall story (back to structure). but when it was good it was SO GOOD!!! i loved the characters and their dynamics, and plot issues aside, getting more of each of them was a delight
***4.5 because it was really good, but I don’t think I loved it as much as I did Six of Crows. Honestly, M’s death felt ??? random (though I loved that she added his perspective in the following chapter).
I honestly preferred this duology over Shadow and Bone trilogy <3
“No mourners, no funerals”. I am so sad that I have finished this series knowing there will be no others. How is Leigh Bardugo able to write something so spectacular? The characters, the banter, the heists; I have no words, this book has left me stunned and staring at the wall. Also KAZ (and Inej, Nina, Wylan, Jes and Matthias)
I’d give this book, and its predecessor, Six of Crows infinite amount of stars if it were at all possible. I currently have happy tears streaming down my face. Beautiful world and beautiful characters.
