The story of a man who does not want to settle down and a woman who's desperate to do just that.

Mitch and Paige meet right after Mitch returns to town to help his injured brother with the family inn, and sparks start flying between them straight away.

Sparks or not, Paige does not intend to start anything with him, content with her life as it is and unwilling to muddle things with a man.

He is very persuasive however, and the two start a fling that was supposed to be no strings or emotions attached.

Neither of them manages to stick to that rule though, and it will take them both overcoming their issues before they can reach their happily ever after.

Enjoyable story with likable characters. Next in the series comes Ryan's story in [b:All He Ever Desired|14714600|All He Ever Desired (Kowalski Family, #5)|Shannon Stacey|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1352779001s/14714600.jpg|22829782].

This was my first book by Stacey in a while, and now I remember why I like her! Great couple with some very funny moments. Looking forward to reading the rest of the Kowalski books. I liked this even better than the first trilogy. The only thing I didn't like is pretty typical of contemporary romance. In the final "payoff" scene when they get together, they plan out their whole lives together in about 5 minutes. The language wasn't natural, and it just felt a bit forced. I think an epilogue would work better than this forced conversation.

Let’s be honest, if you are a reader of contemporary romance you usually know there will be a happily ever after (HEA) at the end of the story. The ending is not what this genre about, it’s about the journey. Be that as it may, I don’t want the ending tied up too quickly or too easily. It sure seemed like that was going to happen here…the too quickly part. And while it was a bit fast, it was somehow perfect. With one line uttered by Mitch, which I can’t actually put here without it being a spoiler, the somewhat quick ending was saved. It went from “how is this going to be wrapped up in the few pages left?” to butterflies taking flight in my stomach and heart.

Okay, Mitch is now my *new* favorite Kowalski. It probably didn't hurt that I absolutely loved the small part he played in his brother Sean's book (Yours to Keep), but somehow in his own book I loved him even more! I don't know how Shannon Stacey does it, but each book in this series seems to be even better than the last. The banter is fun, and I had quite a few laugh out loud moments. Both Paige and Mitch really felt like real people, and the Kowalski family dynamic is great. Stacey clearly sets up Mitch and Sean's siblings for books, and I can't wait to read them!

The only (small) issue I had with this book (and with the one before it as well) is that the over-involvement of the parental figure characters (Emma's grandmother and Mrs. Kowalski in Sean's book; Rosie the housekeeper in this one) feels a bit forced. Maybe it's just that I don't have that same type of person in my own life, but their influence on the plot seems heavy-handed. One other not-quite criticism: I would have loved for this book to be longer; 70,000 words went by much too quickly! All in all, I can't wait for book five in the series. Hurry up, November:)

Ok, so here's the deal. I LOVE Shannon Stacey. But this book just didn't work for me. I have to say the second half was MILES better than the beginning. I got sick of the constant references to Mitch's past -- I get it. He was a man whore. Let's move on. And why the crap was everyone in the town so happy to be used and tossed away by him??? Couldn't there have been just one woman that was hurt by his wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am treatment? Nope, all those women were telling Paige to "go for it!" it was weird. And uncomfortable. Maybe it's just a me problem -- I have a hard time believing everyone and their dog would be telling a girl who hasn't dated in the two years they have known her, to break her streak with a guy who apparently has slept with everyone. With no hesitation. Maybe I'm just too conservative and have a hard time believing that a girl in this situation would not bring emotions into sex. Like I said, it's a me issue. The themes and topics just pushed a few hot buttons. It was good in the end. I don't know if I'll want to re-read it like I have all of her other books. But I'm excited to read the next few books on the series. So, 3 stars and some hope for more 5 star books in the future.

Very cute and quick read. The story was good, the characters likable, but with flaws and real problems/issues. It could have used another pass by an editor; I found a some mistakes that could have easily been fixed by editing, but overall, a very good read.

Two things:
1. Mitch was straight-up misogynistic. It's not really something I noticed in the last three books (maybe the first one) but it was so ridiculous.

2. Is Shannon Stacey getting a kickback from an ATV lobby or something? It's the fourth book, I don't need to keep hearing about riding four-wheelers in the woods anymore. Geez, try skiing or basketball or something.
