it is Sir Pratchett's last book. I enjoyed it but the beginning was tough. I am fairly certain that it suffered from now getting the rewrite love it needed as was explained in the afterwards. I am glad I read it before I read his last adult Discworld books. I have only two left and then no more. This makes me very sad.

 * Note this is an unrated review due to the fact that Sir Pratchett had not completed this book before his death. We are lucky to have gotten something that could work as an ending for Tiffany, for Discworld, and for Terry.

Much of the Tiffany Aching series is an exploration of self which is perfect for young readers. And The Shepherd's Crown is no different as we follow Tiffany as she navigates her grief and is challenged to meet the expectations of many. Once more she overextends herself, but in doing so learns what she wants for herself and is more confident in her path than ever.

Not the tightest book I have ever read, but the spark was still there. ♥️

I admit I was a little worried after Raising Steam, which was somewhat lacking. Apparently I shouldn't have been. This isn't the best Discworld novel (for one thing, there's no Vimes and almost no Vetinari), and some sections and plots (Geoffrey, and, somewhat more jarringly, Nightshade's resolution) do feel a little unfinished. But it's an excellent send off for all that.

Thank you for everything, Mr Pratchett.

SpoilerWE ARE ALL FLOATING IN THE WINDS OF TIME. BUT YOUR CANDLE, MISTRESS WEATHERWAX, WILL FLICKER FOR SOME TIME BEFORE IT GOES OUT--A LITTLE REWARD FOR A LIFE WELL LIVED. FOR I CAN SEE THE BALANCE AND YOU HAVE LEFT THE WORLD MUCH BETTER THAN YOU FOUND IT, AND IF YOU ASK ME, said Death, NOBODY COULD DO ANY BETTER THAN THAT...

Granny Weatherwax was indeed here. And there. She was, in fact, and always would be, everywhere.

Great finale to Tiffany Aching's story.

November 12: I want to put this off, since it's The Last, and I'm not ready to start - or finish - The Last. But it's here, in my house, and Tiffany Aching is my favorite, and I can't not read it.
I'm sad.
I started crying when I opened it last night, because it says, right on the inside flap, "The final Discworld novel". I'm going to miss updates from the Discworld so much. Sometimes I still find myself wondering what's going to happen next to the witches, or Moist & Adora Belle, or Commander Vimes & Lady Sybil, or Carrot & Angua, or the golems, or my beloved Tiffany and those Nac Mac Feegles... and then I realize that nothing will happen next, because he's gone, and then I tear up.

November 13: I'm 96 pages in and I don't think I've cried so hard while reading a book since I was 6 and read "Charlotte's Web". I was reading in bed, and I cried so hard that I woke my husband up. And while it makes sense to me that
SpoilerPratchett and Granny Weatherwax would, basically, die together
because
Spoilershe
always seemed to me to be one of his characters that he loved best and felt most warmly towards, didn't it seem that
SpoilerGranny Weatherwax would live forever
? For that matter, didn't it seem that Terry Pratchett would, too?
This book is breaking my heart all over the place.

November 18: Discworld / Terry Pratchett, I'm going to miss you so fucking much. So much.
