I listened to the audiobook narrated by Dolly herself while moving interstate and it made the journey fly by. During the journey I felt like I was chatting with a friend about their life. It is a coming of age story about a Dolly's late 20s and quite a lot of it resonated with me. I find it fascinating to learn about the inner worlds of others and even when parts of the book didn't resonate with me personally, I still found it intriguing to step into the life of Dolly for a while. Sure, there were times when I felt frustrated when she wasn't happy for her friends finding love but overall it was funny, heart-warming and light-hearted read. (And I would love to attend one of Dolly's dinner parties.)
