Emilia and Owen Smith met two years ago and had a steamy weekend together. They had no idea that they were going to be working together, but they had been able to avoid each other for that time, until Smith got chosen for the player of the season, which was voted on by the fans. Once these two started working together they could not stay away from one another.

Watching these two together I had to check the window to make sure they had not steamed up, these two were so hot. The chemistry Smith and Emilia have more than explodes off the pages. Its more, like Claire trying to explain to Jamie in Outlander how its different.

Owen and Emilia are good for each other, they challenge each other, they realize they are willing to sacrifice for one another, their relationship is that balance of give and take. I enjoyed seeing a different side of Smith, it has been hard to really get a read on him in the other books because he was always standoffish, but knowing how he feels and his thoughts helps you to realize he is a good guy. I had fun reading this book and I liked the chapters where it was just Emilia and Smith texting each other, that was fun and something you don't really see authors do. I do agree with Smith though, I don't know whether Miller is endearing or whether he needs to be punched. He says the most odd things at times. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Don’t like the characters

In loveee. Smith and Emilia’s dynamic when they were together was everything! They were so friggin cute. By far my fav of the series.

I can’t wait for Millers book. He intrigues me so much.

This newest book in the Carolina Comers series alternated with what happened two years prior when Emilia and Smith first met and then after a hot and life changing weekend together, they walked away from the possibility of a future together.

Smith is an older player who has lived his life totally focused on his 15 year NHL career and he leaves room for little else, and definitely no room for relationships. Emilia, fresh out off a horrible breakup wasn’t looking to jump into another one.

Both Emilia and Smith were surprised to discover the connection each of them have to the Carolina Comets - Smith as a player and Emilia as a Social Media Manager and the niece of one of the Assistant Coaches.

Two years of being professional and ignoring their past has take a toll on their ability to resist each other. Despite a new team policy that forbids any relationship between players and staff, an assignment for Emilia to compile a months long player profile of Smith to satisfy Comet fans brings them in close proximity.

Despite the rules against them rekindling their connection and the risk of them being discovered,
neither of them can resist. Their secret relationship is thrilling and oh so steamy, but what happens when/if it comes to light? Will one of them be willing to give up their professional passion for a future together or will both of them suffer heartbreak?

The story is entertaining, brings several appearances of players and couples, has engaging characters and hilarious banter among the players.

This was the first book I’ve read in the Carolina Comets series so I can attest that it can be read as a standalone, but I believe it would be even more satisfying if it was read as part of the series.

I received a free ARC from the author and Valentine’s PR; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

Sometimes rules are meant to be broken, but not if it costs you your job. I’ve been waiting for this book for a while, as these characters were hinted in passed books. And Teagan did not disappoint. Emilia works as the social media manager, up for the biggest promotion. Smith is one of the hottest player on the hockey team. Both have amazing chemistry, funny and serious. But when it comes to work, Emilia is serious. I’m a big fan of age gap books and love how Teagan addressed it perfectly!
