My opinion:I really wanted to like the author but her describing Ted as Handsome and charming so often made me feel that she was proud of her friendship with a monster. I thank her for her hard work but I really wish she would have stepped back and realized she was too close to the story.

2.5 this was my second reading, my first time being when i was 14. i really loved the book then. however, i’ve grown a lot and my reading taste has changed. the sympathy ann rule builds for bundy is rough. her insertion into the narrative adds nothing but more sympathy for a serial murderer and assaulter… which is greatly unneeded. the ethics of this book are very questionable. HOWEVER it does read well. it’s a true crime classic. it’s meant to read fast and keep you invested, which it does pretty well. the beginning and end were solid, the middle of this 550 page book felt like it went on foreverrrrr. lots of thoughts n feels on this book

I think the thing that makes this book so interesting is how this true crime writer knew Ted Bundy and volunteered with him at a suicide hotline. How ironic.

the content was definitely interesting but the writing so wasn't worth it. it wouldn't need a genius to find out that even though Rule tried to deny umpteenth times that she wasn't in love with Ted Bundy, anyone with accurate reading comprehension would find out that she very much was one of those women charmed and manipulated by him, albeit not in a romantic relationship. which is awful, to be honest.
