With this book, I have to mention the illustrations first, they were so outstandingly beautiful. The story, which is based on Korean history, is highly involving, and keeps the reader spell-bound.

I like the representation of Korean culture. I’ve had a hard time finding picture books that showcase that specific culture.

A story telling of the Korean fire message system to the King from the past (1800's) - it takes the system and puts it into the lives of a father and his son, and tells of what needs to be done, it is about duty and relationship between father and son.
Very weak written and illustrated, and the notes at the end Gove more detail about this interesting part in Korean history.
Another book in the Asian Pacific American literary award winner list.

I really love stories based on Korean culture and history. This one tells the importance of our role even if we think it is small.
