For more reviews, check out my blog: Craft-CycleAn absolutely fantastic, beautiful read. The book is quite wordy, so it is best for older children. In it, various situations are presented in which kids don't feel they fit in. From having stayed home all summer to having lunches the others are unfamiliar with, there are times you feel left out and different. However, by the end, the beauty of diverse experiences and perspectives blooms into a truly gorgeous message of acceptance and cherishing differences. I loved the reassuring tone of the book and the warmth of the ending. The illustrations are also lovely. I really enjoyed the different colors, patterns, and textures and the magical elements worked into the every day situations. Gorgeous artwork that is fun to look at.A wonderful read, especially for kids dealing with not fitting in and being different.
Easily one of the best children's books of the year, and perhaps one of my new all time favorites. You can't go wrong with Jacqueline Woodson. This book takes a lesson that many people struggle with even in adult hood and presents it in a way that is easily understood and will make an impact on young readers.

One of the single most beautiful children's books I've ever read. I cry every single time.
Another beautiful picture book about being different, not quite fitting in. Illustrations and storyline feature diverse characters :)
Children are all different, that’s okay. An “only” as in the only one with an accent, the only one who eats certain foods, etc. isn’t a negative just a positive difference. It’s good to be yourself. I love this author!!!
Loved the message behind this book, and I was just so invested in it even though it was less than 40 pages!! I think it's a great book to read to kids on the first day of school!!
A gentle reminder that being different is okay. // what I loved most about this story we’re the illustrations. The text was motivating but it didn’t have that affect on my children. I think it’s sometimes a bit heavy handed because it’s such a push to love the person you are- my kids didn’t have that issue.
This would be great for classrooms with limited diversity to engage the dominate culture. More than anything, those are the kids who need to see that it’s “okay” when someone is different.
