I really enjoyed this historical fiction book. It is based on the true character of Hedy Lamarr who famously invented the tech that brings us Wi-do, Bluetooth, and GPS today. While I’m not sure what portions of the story are true, it was quite fascinating! I do feel like it was a little slow in the middle of the storyline then sped up towards the end. I give it a 4.25 as it was quite interesting, had short chapters, and was fairly easy to follow. I look forward to reading more books by Marie Benedict.

2 1/2 stars.

DNF. Book was an enjoyable to read, but I felt that the author was a bit deceptive. I believed the book to be able Hedy Lamarr's life, with an emphasis on her work on a patent that would later prove to be extremely commercial. However, with less than 100 pages remaining, she had just made it to Hollywood and improved her English.

As I said, it was a fun book to read. I had just expected more substance, and decided to stop reading.

Incredible and uplifting. The importance of recognizing women in every field and the consequences of underestimating.

Benedict’s interpretation of Hedy Lamarr’s inner thoughts feels so shallow. The writing itself is average. I’m disappointed that Benedict
focused so heavily on Lamarr’s early film “Ecstasy”
. The author also kept using the men in Lamarr’s life as a lense through which to view her. The only thing that got me through this was learning a little about Hedy Lamarr’s background. Would not recommend.
