I grabbed this book from my library because I had seen someone talking about it and it peaked my interest, plus I always m trying to read more indigenous stories and authors. This cover really spoke to me, it drew me in and made me want to read this book.
I think I needed a mystery thriller because I had been reading other stuff and was getting a bit slumpy. This one was pretty good and it opened my eyes more to how missing indigenous woman aren’t really cared about and really bad things can happen to them and rarely are people being prosecuted for it. I did finish this read in one day, so it was a quicker one. Something was holding me back from giving it a 5 I just can’t put my finger on it. I thinks it’s more of a character issue.
The characters didn’t really connect with me or make me really like them. Quill, is a bad ass and brave for saving her friend but also stupid for putting herself into so many bad situation that could have turned out way worse for her. Crow was fine, he seemed like a great guy and a great dad and I don’t blame him for leaving until she figured her shit out. Punk was my favourite but I could see the red flag from a mile away. I have no idea how Quill didn’t out it together and find her sooner.
I would recommend this book to others and I’d read more from this author.
