"Michael was a top lawyer at Drake & Sweeney, a giant D.C. firm when a chance, violent encounter with a homeless man with a secret knocks him off the corporate ladder and leaves him in the streets, a poverty lawyer and a thief." (From Amazon).

An okay novel by Grisham - the suspense is low in this one.

Well told courtroom drama with little courtdroom in it. I was afraid this would turn into some kind of activistic, tearjerking manifesto, desperately trying to be inspirational or whatever, but I rarely heard the sentimental Hollywood music. I do believe giving the street lawyer something of a dark side would have been an improvement. He gets a little dirty, but he's still too clean, too innocent. Oh well.

Well written, interesting relationship dynamics with a feel-good ending.
My favourite of John Grisham books so far!!

not one my faves. totally agree w the message/moral of the book but Grisham sacrificed plot as he spent the majority of the book preaching at the reader. A bit heavy handed for my taste

Selfish lawyer turned good guy. Always enjoy John Grisham, but it’s still not up to par of his first books.
