I enjoyed this book. The characters were strong and interesting, and the plot was intriguing.
The ending caught me off guard. It felt like some characters (Kendra Rae, specifically) were wildly underused in a way that caught me off guard. I wanted to know more about what happened, what's the backstory, and what happened next. I really didn't expect a The Ring style ending where the evil just perpetuated itself.

I did like the writing style. I liked the ending Epilogue but I thought there was still a lot left unexplored and unanswered in the main story.

This book was fine, which seems to be a common consensus. My main complaint is how predictable the book feels. There was about one minor twist I was surprised by but nothing major. All the other “twists” felt very expected. Perhaps the book title “The Other Black Girl” just gives too much away. There are only so many directions for a book like this to go in, causing it to lack suspense.

This book was great! I Anyone who has had a “frenemy” in their life will definitely relate to this story! The ending left me literally begging for more…. I would have liked to have a more well-rounded story with some more details. A lot of unanswered questions in the end! It was a bit slow at the beginning, but picked up quickly and by the time I got half way through I could hardly put it down.

If Jordan Peele wrote chick lit poorly. I wanted to like it so much more than I did. 2 stars for an overall “Meh” vibe.

Not a huge fan. It was good in the beginning but keeping track of all the characters, who played what role, and who was good and who was bad was difficult.

Super disappointed in the ending as well, so rushed and the main character put up no resistance which to me doesn’t feel in line with who she is as a person. Definitely like Get Out but way less thought out and way more frustrating / no satisfying conclusion.

I reserve 1 star reviews for books I'm not able to finish. But the more I think about this book, the more I hate it

To be honest, I only finished this book because Libby wouldn’t let me renew it (someone else was waiting for it) and I’m trying not to dnf anything for the next year. And it’s a good thing it was an audiobook because, if I would’ve had to read it on paper, it would’ve taken at least a month or 2 to get through it because MY GOD it started out boring as crap! Even though I had watched 50-75% (can’t remember exactly how many episodes I got in before IT bored me to death also) of the Hulu show a couple of years ago, and already knew a lot of at least the first half, since I never finished the series I still didn’t know what the “twist” was gonna end up being. So that was another motivating factor to finish. Once I got through to the last 3rd, I was pretty intrigued because I was finally about to get all the deets! And I can say, though it was pretty predictable and kind of corny, I didn’t mind it. I actually ended up being relatively entertained by it, which pleasantly surprised me. Now I want to rewatch/finish the Hulu series so I can see if it’s more enjoyable (or at least bearable). Mostly because I hate getting through more than half a series and not finishing it. Plus I’m always bored and looking for something to watch. G-damn this review is as anti-climactic and long-winded as the book was. I’m not even sure why I ended up liking it. Wth?
