I didn't love the change in characterisation since the last book.
Questionable in places and hasn't aged well, but it did a good job at building tension and I was invested.
Unfortunately the ending completely ruined the whole book for me. Not my favourite concept anyways, but poorly executed regardless. I feel like I wasted my time with this one :(

Very underrated in regards to the franchise, it’s very gripping and compelling. Despite how horrific mason is he is very fascinating and kept me interested in reading it. I wish that
clarice choosing to live with Hannibal was more fleshed out though

Again this is the 2nd time reading Thomas Harris - Red Dragon, Silence of The Lambs and Hannibal (prior to goodreads) and I've always had a soft spot for these books. After finishing Hannibal I must say that this one is ALOT more graphic and I really love that Dr Leccter takes centre stage. It's a pretty strange book soley for the fact that even though you know he's a serial killer and cannibal you're always rooting for Dr Lecter. I think this really is because you have an incrediblly vile human like Mason Verger in this story. Krendler too he was a real piece of work and I just hated the man. I forgot how much of a promenant role Barney had in this and wasn't really a fan of his inclusion in it as I liked the character in previous books and film. Overall this is a fantastic book, some parts with Starling I really wasn't a fan of (towards the end) but still I think this is a book I can regularly read no problems. I'll still stay Red Dragon is my favourite of the series.

I want to rate this 4 stars but Hannibal Lecter does NOT crave nipple suckling
