I don't see Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal at all. He's probably the reason I never especially liked the movies, but I adore the books.
It feels less harrowing, but Hannibal's return is suitably dark. This is more of a manhunt crime thriller at times, but don't be fooled. This one didn't end in a way I expected.

one of my favorite books from my late teens/early twenties, haven't read it in 15 years and wanted to see if i still like it. and i sure do. great read, grips you in just the right way, with interesting characters (not necessarily "lovable", just very engaging).
i know a lot of people hate the ending. i love it, always did, and was so pissed when they changed it for the movie.

I had to read 3 different copies because the first 2 were incomplete.
2 stars. Should’ve just stuck with the first two books. Those were brilliant but this one felt so different from those. This one was way too long and entirely too boring. Nothing of interest happens for more than half of the book and by the time things picked up it felt like it was too little too late. I’ll probably read book four but certainly not any time soon because I’ve heard that that one is worse than this one and I’m worried.
