Dark romance authors today could NEVER. That’s all I’m saying.

Another sumptuous thriller, full of diabolical cruelty. Whilst provocative, I found the ending disappointing. It is not the arc I would have liked for Clarice Starling.

Do you ever get to the end of a book and just think, "...what?" Well I sure did. It sort of ended the way I thought it would, but also not at all.

i had a good time listening to the audiobook but i have to say, listening to some of the murder descriptions whilst i was cheerfully minding my own business on the rowing machine at the gym was... definitely an experience. i don't often flinch from gore but i did pull a few despairing faces.

i liked discovering how much hannibal rated henry viii as a composer, and also That Teacup Metaphor!!

*****Major spoilers ahead*****

Go Margot, go Margot, go!

This one felt very different in tone from the other 2, this one was truly bonkers.  It was so gross and the ending was nauseating truly, this book is not for the faint of heart.  I hate that that all the men are so horrible that they make me like and root for a cannibal in comparison:( I know people hate the ending but personally I always thought Clarice and Hannibal had a weird sexual tension from the get go , would I expect Clarice to act on that, not at all but I'm not as mad as others at it.🤷🏼‍♀️. The author also seems very intelligent,  I was constantly researching references and thinking about the deeper meaning behind  things Hannibal said. I also liked it because I'm learning Italian and this had a lot of Italian in it.  Overall I really enjoyed the journey even if the ending was wild.

Update: I fell asleep after finishing this and had nightmares about Hannibal Lecter so that tells you how scary the book is lol

This book was a bit slow in the middle, but it was all worth it in the end. I could not have anticipated the way things ended up.
