Such an inventive thriller with a true crime twist and an endlessly enjoyable self-insert of a protagonist. Though the character of Richard Chizmar is somewhat distanced from the prowling danger of his town's Boogeyman, the tension and fear is always present. This is specifically due to Chizmar's loving hand as he pays homage to his hometown of Edgewood.

Bad. I was really surprised to finish this and realize it was written by a well published author. It read like someone had studied a series of articles about a serial criminal and chucked it all into a book and then still felt the need to explain every decision so obviously.

I am obsessed with this book. The writing style is unique, grips you from every page and the pace is perfect. It’s my first book (and certainly not my last) from this author. Adding the pictures in between chapters was a super smart move! Well worth the 5 ⭐️ and I’d love to see a movie adaptation and a sequel in the future!
