This was almost two stars just for Aurora being SUCH AN IDIOT. She thinks that marriage means she's no longer free. Free to... Do what? Nothing important, apparently. She spends the entire novel raging against her forced marriage, then once she's married she decides she loves him and then suddenly she's not actually any less free than she was the night before. THEN they both turn into idiots, ruin their relationship by not taking to each other, and nearly screw up the entire kingdom. Fillip was actually pretty cool, but Aury needed to grow up A LOT.

I completely loved this book. the premise was interesting, the characters were fantastic. Aury had every right to be...miffed is the word I will use. I would have done something similar to her, trying to prove myself and garner my independence. Something she was never allowed. Filip I could understand despite his entirely different approach to their forced relationship. He was born and bred knowing he would do what he had to to help his people and given a direction he followed that path. You can't fault Aury for feeling differently. in fact it is easy to agree with both sides and hope they can find a happy middle. From start to ending loved it all. I so want more of their story! The future they have. its the only downside to the series the books do not continue from their POV!

I love retellings, so I was excited to see that this was supposed to be a retelling of Sleeping Beauty and knew I’d want to read it.

I thought the story was okay. I feel very neutral about it. It was okay and it also was not that great. It was definitely an in between for me.

I really liked Aury. I love that she wanted to make her own choices, especially since so many of them were taken away from her. She really put her foot down many times, even if it meant angering her father the king, or disrupting the potential alliance with the elves. Maybe it was a bit selfish at times, but I mean she grew up in a rather hostile environment only to find out she never had to, it was for her own “protection”. I mean I would have been rebellious as well. And then her reaction around Filip was hilarious! It’s like she had no idea what to do or how to act around him, and it made me giggle.

I may be a bit biased when it comes to elves. Ever since Lord of the Rings, I feel like elves are meant to be regal and snobbish, and not as sassy as they are in this book. That being said, I did like Filip and his friends. I loved the dynamic there how they treated him like a normal person, and yet respected him when it came to princely matters, they always deferred to him, but also protected him like he was their brother. And with Aury being awkward around him, Filip knew, so it was great to see how he would take that to his advantage

The story never captured me and Aury got on my nerves a lot. Over all the book has been pretty boring so far and if it takes the book more than 50% of it to get me interested (which in this case it didn't) I won't finish it because I don't see the point.

I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH, IT WAS HILARIOUS, SWEET, AND ROMANTIC. I LOVED ALL THE CHARACTERS SO MUCH. I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN, EACH PAGE FLOWED TO THE NEXT AND I HAD TO TURN EACH PAGE TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED NEXT. I HAD TEARS ROLLING DOWN MY FACE I WAS LAUGHING SO MUCH AT THE ANTICS OF ALL THE CHARACTERS, NOT JUST THE PRINCE BUT THE WHOLE CAST. IT IS WELL-WRITTEN AND A JOY TO READ. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS BOOK IF YOU LOVE FAE AND DRAGONS, AND SO MUCH MORE.

I really tried to like this book but the main character was such a brat I just couldn’t get into it. She was rightfully upset with her parents for abandoning her to another court and letting her live the way she did - but man she was such a brat. Also I didn’t buy the whole she really wanted to become a princess after one conversation with another girl.

I liked Filip the love interest though - he was funny.

DNF at 23%. I would have been fine a sleeping beauty remake or an arranged marriage + water mage book. Literally no reason to tie them together. Just confusing and pointless.

A fun retelling of Sleeping Beauty.

Aury finds out today she was cursed at birth because her parents pre-arranged her marriage without consulting the Matchweaver. She learns she is a human princess, maybe a strong water mage and an elven prince is on the way to marry her. She rebels against the parents she never knew and fights tooth and nail against their demands.

Filip the elven prince is coming to woo his bride-to-be to save his kingdom from starvation. He is determined to win her if her magic doesn't kill him first.

It's a battle of fighting fate and true love. I enjoyed it
