that was a WILD ride. the end felt very rushed but overall it was an entertaining read, i liked the styles of both authors and they worked well together

Sticks and Stones is the first book in the Shadow Valley U series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Wren “Sticks” Davis almost ruined Stone Foster’s, her foster brother’s best friend, hockey career. He hates her, and she hates him. But now they have to not only live together but also share a room.

S. Massery and SJ Sylvis co-writing? Say less. This is like a lighter side to S. Massery’s Hockey Gods series and a slightly darker side to SJ Sylvis’s Bexley U series.

This was a great enemies to lovers romance. Wren and Stone definitely gave as good as they got. I hated Stone so much, and I felt so bad for Wren. My heart broke for her when she finally broke. But that was when Stone realized he took things too far. And he also realized that he didin’t actually hate Wren. And the way this man fell so HARD

This has been on my TBR for far too long and am so glad I finally got around to it. This hate to love written by two of my favorite authors is SO GOOD! It's dark (please check TW), angsty and the spice hits all the right places. The story is pretty addicting - I listened to this one within a day. Wren's background is traumatic but having the hockey boys, especially Evan & Stone, care for her - that support from her new found family was great to read as it develops. But the main show is her relationship with Stone - he really goes from a-hole to obsessive book boyfriend that I just fell for. The banter between them is sharp - sometimes with an angry bite but also at times playful. Stone steps up in big & swoony ways. This wouldn't be a dark romance without some borderline, morally grey lines (phone tracking, light blood play). The way Stone falls hard for Wren & she allows him to catch her - LOVED! While this is a complete standalone & the story wraps up nicely - I am excited to see what happens in the next book.

Oh my

Grade: A-

S.J. Sylvis is another new to me author but S. Massery, you better believe if I see she has a new hockey book coming out I'll be there to read it. Sticks and Stones is a hockey romance where the main characters, Wren (Sticks) and her foster brother best friends are enemies. Wren nearly destroyed Stone's chance with the NHL with decision she made in high school. Now two years later Wren and her brother are sophmores at Shadow Valley University and she has no where to go but to move in with her brother at the hockey house. Stone wants to be the best hockey player and what better way to do it than to transfer to Shadow Valley Universtiy where he will also be moving in with his best friend but what he doesn't know is that he will be getting an unwelcomed roomate. The bullying and panks are shot lived when Stone is hit the truth of his pranks. After that realization he becomes very protective of Wren when he finds out how someone dangerous has found her. Wren for once feels protected and loves the comfort and safety Stone brings her. The chemistry between Wren and Stone is hot! This is another hockey must!

I was into this at the beginning but I hated Stone

4.5/5

This was my first S. Massery book and second by SJ Sylvis. I absolutely loved it!

I've found that I truly enjoy enemies to lovers and brother's best friends tropes the most in books! Which this book has both of!

Wren "Sticks" has been in and out of foster more times than anyone should be due to a drug dealing father. Thankfully, she is placed in a home that welcomes her with open arms and gains a protective brother, Evan, that she's able to rely on. During a lunch break, Wren, decides to take a nap in her brothers car, but when she sees the police and a K9 dog, she starts to panic, knowing their is a certain package in her bag that her father wanted her to deliver. In a panic, Wren hides the package under, Stone's truck as she knows his father (who is a defense lawyer) will be able to get him out of trouble. When Stone is found and arrested, he knows exactly who is at fault so when he sees Wren, he vows to never look or speak to her again. But when he moves to Shadow Valley, he comes face to face with Wren again, and can't seem to stay away from her.
