Interesting concept which could have been better developed. Overall a good quick read.

Too much Jesus at the end, and it felt rushed, but interesting idea for a story.

Quick read! I read it in 2 days. I really wish I knew French because I would have loved to have read it in the original language. I personally did not like the translation. It felt flat and I felt like I was reading subtitles much of the time. Which is not the author's fault. BUT the story is good and very intriguing. Be prepared for a strong religious thread running throughout the book. Other reviewers complained about the author's perception of those who attempt suicide (and those who commit suicide.) But I did not take it as an attack on anyone, as his character was already angry at God. I see this is a book that people will either love or hate. I think I would have loved it if it weren't for the translation but. :-)

was looking for a personal answer in the story - it’s not the fault of the book if the answer doesn’t satisfy a reader but the issue here lies more in the lack of depth. I would never say religiosity is not the answer, I’m more disappointed in pretentiousness of it, which is step away from occultism. just not my cup of tea.
also the idea is drama movie worth, execution though is bland and underwhelming. took me about four chapters to finally be able to dive into the plot as the writing style seemed shallow. I believe it’s partly because of the translation but there is still an issue with the plot depth

This book has stayed with me probably longer than any book has in the last 10 year ! Not what you expect and it stays with you and leaves you with so many levels of thought afterwards!

Interesting premises but some harsh beliefs on suicide and a disappointing end.

Would give this 3 and a half stars. It took me a while to get into it but once I did I really enjoyed it.
