I love Ian and Veritas so much! I am so happy we are getting another book in the series. Can't wait to see what happens after that ending!

I really did try to make the book last longer than one day. I didn't plan to read all night despite having to work the next day. Ian is just too good to set aside. Several times while reading I stopped and went back a few pages to re-read a moment between Ian and Veritas.
Loved loved LOVED this book! The little cameos of other well loved characters was definitely a bonus.

Great sequel

Part two was amazing.... Veritas and Ian start off separated but Ian refuses to stay away. The book also throws another wrench in the cogs as the second part ends pushing us into book three.

What did I like? So none of this series is a stand alone but a continuation but it’s outstanding! I’m in deep with Veritas and Ian as they navigate taking down the bad demon. The second part seals Ian with his bride but that ending.... I’m ready for book three.

Would I recommend or buy? I got a copy from goodreads giveaway but I’m thinking this series definitely needs to be on my shelf! Can’t wait for next part!

Second read-thru as audiobook 2/13/2023

If so, I hoped my last thoughts were of Ian. I wanted to remember his cocky grin, his quick wit, his bone-deep loyalty and his ferocious courage. Most of all, I wanted to relive what I’d felt when I was in his arms. I’d never before felt so completely exposed yet wholly accepted. Cherished. Maybe even loved, if we’d had more time . . . With a hard swipe, I dashed away the tears that snuck down my cheeks. I couldn’t let myself dwell on Ian.

The plot twist at the end of this was just perfect!

Overall I really loved this book. A bit less of the steam than the first book. I also think Ian has lost a bit of his personality over this series. I started to miss his snark and flirting, it's just not very obvious. I was glad though that Ian was the one chasing after Veritas and not the other way around. With his reputation I think it wouldn't have felt good at all. The lengths that he goes to get Veritas back are just mwah perfecto!

Also the scene with Vlad and Leila at the beginning was just perfect. I really really really hope Frost writes another Vlad book like she's threatening. Vlad is life.

“Clever, calculating, and cruel.” Ian’s voice dropped to an insinuating purr. “No wonder I married you.”

I have been waiting to finish it already. Why? It had all the right ingredients for urban paranormal: compromising love, several cities, friends with powers, characters with powers and some sparkling dazzling history of the world.

But it felt chaotic, hard to protrude at times and stiff.

Their love fell plain. They were a couple from the beginning of the book, even if they kept playing on the romantic angst through the rest of the novel.

I did not care for their mission. The stakes weren't there. Not even they (the characters) did not seem very interested in their main conflict. They were leaning more on the part that fascinated them the most: them. What kind of new secret powers do they have and how could that change the world and etc.

I just wanted it to be over. It was a good enough book that I kept on rowing despite the difficulties that I had on emphatizing with the characters, but it was not great.
