I have been waiting to finish it already. Why? It had all the right ingredients for urban paranormal: compromising love, several cities, friends with powers, characters with powers and some sparkling dazzling history of the world.

But it felt chaotic, hard to protrude at times and stiff.

Their love fell plain. They were a couple from the beginning of the book, even if they kept playing on the romantic angst through the rest of the novel.

I did not care for their mission. The stakes weren't there. Not even they (the characters) did not seem very interested in their main conflict. They were leaning more on the part that fascinated them the most: them. What kind of new secret powers do they have and how could that change the world and etc.

I just wanted it to be over. It was a good enough book that I kept on rowing despite the difficulties that I had on emphatizing with the characters, but it was not great.

Eh, I love how this story ties into the main cannon, but the ending felt a bit ‘sequel-please’. Not going to read the next. The story’s over.

I received an e-ARC from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. Review can be found on *Milky Way of Books*

This was a very, VERY anticipated sequel! Ian's and Verita's story had its clutches on me ever since the first book! I loved them as a couple and the story was captivating from the first page!

In this sequel, Ian and Veritas must stop a power-hungry demon, fight countless enemies and discover more secrets. We are taken on a road trip through the planet from Egypt and Greece to Japan and the US. The action was mind-blowing not to mention the romance!

You have to love a character who gets the heroine and is not fearful of her powers. And Ian has a way to get under your skin and make you either laugh with him or kick him. I loved Veritas in this book too. She had a lot of emotional growth to do as she discovered more of her past and I enjoyed her trying to solve all the mysteries.

The ending was a CLIFFHANGER! Holly wow I never expected the PLOT TWIST which will surely make for a spectacular third book!

I have been provided with a review copy of Wicked Bite through Edelweiss for an impartial review. This is the second book in the Night Rebel series and I just absolutely loved getting to reenter this world with these great characters. I just can’t get enough of Veritas and Ian. They have just dragged me into their world and I just didn’t want this story to end. It was just so easy to get lost in and I hope there are many more stories to come in this series.

Damn. DAMN! DAAAAMMMN!
Dammit, that was good! Edge of my seat good. Nail-biting good. Reading in the dark with a Dollar Tree flashlight, so I don't wake up the baby good.
The underlying messages of self-worth, acceptance, and race were prevalent in this one.

"If they were here, their species and others wanted them dead for reasons that practically amounted to "You're different, so you scare me." Funny how those same people rarely paused to consider how terrifying they were, handing down death sentences from their positions of power or privilege."

This brought to mind every time a police officer IRL shoots an unarmed POC and claimed they "feared for their lives".
The banter between Ian and Veritas is everything I ever wanted in a book. But that ending! Good Gods!!!!!!
Thank you Goodreads & Jeaniene Frost, for choosing me to win this ARC! Although I am sad to know I have to wait even longer for the next book. *crying real tears*

-UPDATE-
Yes, I read the book already, but I HAVE to listen to it too. I can't let Tavia Gilbert down, can I?

This book is fine, though the series still isn't grabbing me like others have. Not sure why... the world-building here is interesting, there are twists and enough spice to keep me reading. That said, not a fan of the constant miscommunication/ self-sacrifice... he tries to save her, she tries to save him, she constantly doubts he feels as strongly about her as he does (even though it's pretty obvious)... maybe the whole "as long as you live the world is ok, never mind about me dying" is a little much.

Solid second book of a trilogy, recommended if you like MFCs who solve problems with sex. How is she 4,000+ years old, yet her very young (250 year-old) ex-fuckboy vampire lover is the one who communicates and does the work in the relationship? We love a responsible partner, but come ooooooon, Veritas.

Argh! There are cliff hangers then there is dangling over sharpened spikes on a piece of cotton.

Amazingly great story but I was left breathless at the end.

This second book keeps the momentum firmly running at breakneck speed and this picks up where we left off and contrary to Veritas expectations that Ian is going to wake a complete blank slate unable to recall anything he still remembers pieces, feelings mostly from the previous few weeks. He also still had a burning need and compulsion to chase his absent wife and lock her down. He may not remember details but he does recall deep inside that she’s his just not all of the specifics.

Veritas is keeping as far away from Ian as she can she believes that to keep him safe he needs to be far away from her. If only Ian would play ball as he’s no intention of allowing the status quo to continue indefinitely and if that means he needs to chase her across the world to get his many answers so be it.

It’s not long before these two are again on the same page and as more of Ian’s memories return it becomes impossible for Veritas to continue to keep him at arm's length. We again have cameos from previous characters in this series also a whole lot of danger and some red-hot passion when these two finally do reconnect.

The finale was superb action-packed and filled with some edge-of-your-seat tension and unexpected plot directions. That roadblock at the end was totally a surprise not sure how that one’s going to pan out but I’m definitely intrigued. Ian and Veritas trilogy is the story I never knew I wanted but now definitely appreciate its another excellent addition to this amazing series.
