This book made me cry as a working mama. The mother is working so hard to make her time with her child perfect on her day off, but everything is going wrong. In her frustration, the child reveals to her that the day was absolutely special to her because they got to spend it together. CUE THE WATERWORKS!
My little one also really liked it: it has vibrant pictures, repetition, and a good rhythm.

Saturday is Ava's favorite day because she gets to spend it with her mother. So when everything during this particular Saturday seems to go terribly wrong, it is a test of Ava and her mother's resilience and sense of humor.
Oge Mora's sophomore effort is even more lovely and endearing than [b:Thank You, Omu|34642482|Thank You, Omu!|Oge Mora|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1518363514l/34642482._SX50_.jpg|55803453]. As a mom who works fulltime, this book tugged my heartstrings hard. The mother and daughter depicted in this story cherish their time together on Saturdays, even when the day is kind of a disaster. It's a simple story with a familiar theme, but it still feels exceptional. The illustrations somehow radiate joy in the bond between parent and child. The story is told with an excellent refrain: they take a deep breath and let it out like "whoosh" when something bad happens. I use [b:Thank You, Omu!|34642482|Thank You, Omu!|Oge Mora|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1518363514l/34642482._SX50_.jpg|55803453] a lot in story time, and this has the same qualities that make that book so successful.

Saturday is a perfect book that summarizes what I think everyone is going through right now. We had plans, and they went flying straight out the window.
Ava is super excited that it’s Saturday because she gets to spend time with her mom. Her mom works Sunday through Friday, and this is the only day of the week they can be together. Everything starts great and then BOOM, there’s one bump after another in their plans. I mean, their day was jacked y’all.
But, Ava realizes that the most important thing was that they got to spend time together. They recognize that although the day was not what they wanted, it was still a good day.

This book really has a deep meaning which show that parents/guardians/care takers have a big influence on children lives. It demonstrates how children learn behave and emulate those how are in a position of influence. Loved the story as a parent and student.
