I went in knowing this was a cheating book, and that it was a bit toxic and also that there was no EPIC love story here... with all that in mind, this book was actually pretty fun to read

Both main characters are super unlikable and it’s really such a shame how the mental illness is treated in this book. It was a slog to get through. If either of the characters were even somewhat likable it would have been better but they’re both assholes and it makes this a miserable reading experience.

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Wow. Just wow. This book. Wow. I honestly don't even know what to say about Revenge Cake right now. I finished it a while ago and all I can is that this is one toxic ass relationship.

In it, you mill meet Logan and Lani. Both are manipulative in some way but hot damn - they should NOT be together. Yet, for some weird ass reason.. fate brought them together. I don't see why they like each other.. unless it's the sex. Maybe she has a magical vagina or something.

Lani deal with pretty bad anxiety and goes through some panic attacks every now and then. So it doesn't help that her relationship with Logan takes a huge dive into crazyville. She starts taking this medicine that she ends up abusing and ruining her relationship with him. But don't think he's completely innocent here because he is completely and painfully needy AF. Plus, he basically cheated on her with this girl named Kiera. And by basically.. he completely did.

He's a douche. Through and through.

In the end, I really liked that they weren't together and Lani was doing better. Yet, this ending came and ugh - just utter disappointment. I did not like this book one bit.

This was my first listen by Skyler Mason. This book was definitely a bit different than most of the romance titles I listen to. Loved the premise. And loved getting to know Logan & Leilani. Excellent narration by Lauren Sweet & Tim Paige.

We meet Brittani and Logan in the midst of we were on a break moment for the next month due to the fact that she’d had a breakdown and keyed Logan’s car because she thought he was cheating on her with her best friend, Olivia.
Armann sets Logan up with Mia, his girlfriend’s Brenna’s roommate but Logan decides that he’s fallen for their other roommate, Leilani due to her honest and refreshing outlook on life.

As someone who suffers from generalized anxiety disorder, I absolutely related to Leilani. I loved loved all the characters especially Brenna (love the name) & Leilani. Logan was a complete d bag and I hated him

3.5 stars. The main characters weren’t very likable. Not crazy spicy like some other KU books. I enjoyed the author’s elevated vocabulary through the book.

”How could I not fall in love with him when he’s the opposite of what I most loathe in myself?”

Three words to summarize this story—toxic, petulant, cheating. Perfect if you’re in it for the angst and drama; not so much if you’re in it for the romance, characters, or plot—all of which were lacking substance.

This book had me extremely intrigued from the first few pages because the main characters seem to be dealing with a lot from the get-go. Logan and Leilani have this intense relationship of when it is good it’s good but when things go south, they are extremely toxic for each other. Leilani came off as a little bit insecure and childish with how she could deal with some certain situations, but Logan did not help things at all when he would come across as the one constantly being hurt or forgotten. Leilani fought with an addiction and panic disorders, which are no fun for anyone who has ever had them, so as she decided to get her revenge I thought maybe she should have been working on herself than worrying over Logan and his issues. Logan had his own set of issues and they are all serious, but I just didn’t think him and Leilani fit well together because he seemed very insecure also. I did enjoy reading the thoughts and ways other people deal with serious issues like these two, it was angsty, and made for a good read but man they were just so toxic together with all the plotting, revenge, betrayals, etc.

Ok this book has SO many levels to get into but my favorite thing about this is that the main character with anxiety is written as a neutral person (not bad not great). She has redeeming qualities while also having faults. I did not care for the male main character. I think his personality explains itself.
The ending was confusing to say the least, I’m not sure if it was all that realistic, but overall it was a good plot with a great layout.

I have no idea why these two still ended up together if I'm being honest here. It's not even the cheating that turned me off; it's that their relationship was lackluster and shallow and has the kind of toxicity that I deplore in romance books. I'm not even convinced that they were in any way, shape, or form in love with each other. I wouldn't even be surprised if they would end up breaking up for real in the future
