I found The Hiding Place to be a slow burn mystery which takes place throughout multiple timelines which include 1964, 1991 and 1992. The story focuses on the lives of Marina, Connie and Eva.
I found the majority of the book to be really slow but once some of the major events started happening the pace picked up which made it a lot more interesting. I really enjoyed learning about each character and what each of them went through. It was interesting to discover who Marina really was and I liked the ending because I think it provided closure.
I recieved an advanced copy for free, and this is my honest opinion.

This is a slow-building family drama-thriller! I enjoyed following Marina as she worked to discover what really happened around her birth. This was a compelling and emotional story! If you are worried about the slow burn in the beginning trust me once you start reading you won't even notice it! There's two timelines, the 1960s and 1990s. Could you imagine something happening in the sixties and the consequences are still being felt 3 decades later! The writing in this book is wonderful! Jenny Quintana has a way of capturing the reades and bringing to life a story full of intrigue and suspense! Great read! Happy reading everyone!
I found this an enjoyable, intriguing mystery.
The story is dual time frame, set in South London and moves between Connie's story in 1965 and Marina's story set in 1991. Marina is trying to discover how she came to be left as a tiny baby in a doorway? In a quest to find the truth Marina rents an apartment in the building where she was found. Who still lives in the building and what do they remember?
Meanwhile in 1965 Connie is coming to terms with the recent loss of her mum and helping her dad run the family bookshop. She's eagerly waiting for a letter from Johnny, her boyfriend who went to Paris to make his fortune as an artist.
How will these two stories merge? What secrets will the two women uncover as they try to seek the truth?
This is an engaging story with two great main characters which were very well written. I felt very invested in both stories and enjoyed slowly uncovering the truth alongside Marina through the secrets of the house and its residents. The stories interweave as the mystery develops and they both come together perfectly at the end. I read this very quickly and will definitely look out for the other books by this author.

I loved this book.
It’s a story that gives you the feelings and the ways it’s woven between two times is wonderful.
Jenny Quintana has written a beautiful book.

3.5 stars. The Hiding Place is a mystery novel. Marina (or Zoe, as she chooses to be called in order to obscure her identity) was found in the hallway of shared, rented accommodation when she was only a few days old. This is one of the few things she knows about herself: that and the blue shawl she was wrapped in. I liked the fact that Marina's life with her adopted parents was a happy one, but despite this Marina has always wondered about her roots. After a few half-hearted attempts to find out more she decides that the way to learn as much as she can about her past is to move in to a rented room in the house she was found in!
There are three story threads here: Marina's (1992), Eva's (1992) and Connie's (1960s). These gradually come together to provide an explanation.
It was convenient how many people from the past Marina was able to track down and speak to. I felt like a lot of the secondary characters didn't work very well and some things worked out rather conveniently (or inconveniently at other points). A sad and engaging read.

A gripping story about a woman searching for her mother. Really enjoyed this book and my first read by Jenny Quintana!
This book has been on my Goodreads TBR for a year or so now, and I picked it up in the library.
I decided to read it that same afternoon as I had been looking forward to it but it was a bit of a mediocre read overall.
Not much really happens and there were a few too many coincidences and just-so-happens for my liking.
Unsure if I would read more from the author.

Started today and finished today! A fast paced read which had me guessing one ending but had a completely different one!
I absolutely loved this gripping family drama/mystery! I loved the dual timelines and the multiple points of view. It was suspenseful and intriguing and the characters were brilliant.
Abandoned as a baby in the hallway of a shared house in London, Marina has never known her parents, and the circumstances of her birth remain a mystery. Now as an adult, Marina has returned to the house where it all started, determined to find out who she really is. But the walls of this house hold more than memories, and Marina's reappearance hasn't gone unnoticed by the other tenants - because someone is watching her. Someone who knows the truth.
I flew through this one, I couldn't stop turning the pages. The chapters are short and snappy leaving me wanting more. Highly recommended and I definitely want to read more by this author. Her writing is so absorbing!
