Listened to the audiobook. Meh. I am so bored / grossed out by the majority of psychological thrillers these days.
Peter Swanson has been one of my favorite thriller authors so when I heard about this book I just had to read it! The story follows Hen and her husband Lloyd as they move into a new house in a new neighborhood for a fresh start. At a neighborhood get together they are relieved to find another young couple that doesn’t want kids. After having dinner with their new neighbors Hen spots a trophy in the neighbors study that she believes to be a weapon used to kill a guy she used to know.
Hen starts to spiral, desperate to prove that her neighbor is a murderer. Shocking discoveries are made about Hen and her past making her an unreliable witness. With lies, murder, and a shocking love triangle, this book is hard to put down. With a surprise twist ending you will not see coming, this is a must read for mystery lovers.

I absolutely did not see the twist coming! I loved this book! Kept me involved and I could not put it down! Because I did not figure out the twist, I loved it more. and it kept going after the twist. I don’t want to give much away, but loved the perspective from each of the characters. Only thing not as developed was Matthew’s wife’s perspective at the end. But I think I do know.

Unpopular opinion time...sorry guys, but I didn't enjoy this book at all. It was not thrilling in the least, the characters were underdeveloped, and I didn't care about the story. The only reason I'm giving it two stars instead of one is because I didn't guess the twist. This was such a let down since a lot of my friends are giving it four and five star ratings...did we read the same book?
Really fun. The only thing I didn't like was the very last twist. It didn't really add anything to the story and felt tacked on. I loved the descriptions of Hen's art so much and I would've totally bought her prints. Also the tension between Richard and Matthew, the differing interpretations of their childhood and resulting personalities, added a weird but fun "who's really the bad guy" vibe where you sort of go back and forth.
I love a good Peter Swanson book and this one was no different. A little less intense than I had hoped for but definitely a good book with lots of twists and turns.
