Debated giving it 4 stars because the twist was GOOD, but that happened in the last 50 pages... the rest was meh.

One of the better thrillers I've read in a while. This nailbiter will keep you up at night. It's fiercly well-written with excellent character development. The main female character is not overly high-strung. She's caught up in this mess that she doesn't completely understand. She's equally sure of her convictions as well as hesitant at the same time. The plot moves quickly and is better than most at keeping the reader highly engaged. Lately, I've been judging thrillers based on the quality of the ending. That is where most let me down. This one is a exception. The ending is more than satisfying....it's smart and terrifying right to the very end.

4.5/5
dark tense slow-paced

I really really enjoyed this. I kept trying to predict what the plot would be but never quite guessed it which meant it kept my interest and it was a suspenseful experience. I did keep having a sort of meta experience where I felt it was really odd for a man to write this book.
challenging dark emotional mysterious tense slow-paced

I read a lot of psychological thrillers and this is one of the best ones I’ve read in a while. The twists were great, and for me unexpected! I really enjoyed the writing style and the story was told wonderfully!

A twist at the end YEEESS !!!!
dark mysterious fast-paced

I really went back and forth with this book. If I wasn’t reading it for a book club, I may not have finished the book. The middle drags because all the characters make rather dumb decisions. Also, I struggle with books where a majority of the characters are unlikable. Hen is the only character I liked from beginning to end.

Still, I’m glad I finished the book. The ending paced far better, and the twists, while a bit tropey, were interesting. I wished we had seen the fallout with a couple of the tertiary characters more, but I only ever liked Hen so I didn’t mind focusing on her at the end.

2.5 stars

When Hen and Lloyd move to a new home, it cements a new start for them both. Hen has finally on medication for her bi-polar that keeps her stable. But when they meet their next door neighbours, their perfect life, and Hen's stability, begin to deteriorate. 3 stars
