I really enjoy Becky Chambers’ writing. There’s something soothing(?) about it. I can’t really explain it. So I enjoyed this book. It was quick and insteresting. Her slice of life stories always feel like a friend telling you a story, and this one felt even more like that because of the format.

Touching, inspiring, idealistic — something high above, there the stars — as sci-fi novels should be.

I think this books marks my completion of all Becky Chambers novels. I still think she is the best author doing sci fi right now.
This story was much more grounded in science than the fiction part like the other big series. But it was still very fun and the character interactions remain unrivaled.

(caught between giving it 3 to 4 stars) really enjoyable and curious introduction, followed by a fascinating examination of realizing space exploration. that being said, this would probably get a higher rating under the sci fi genre - sadly i think im just too into deeper fantasy world building than short stories at the moment
