After five days of binging the entire Twilight Saga (and LOVING it), I got to the end of Book One: Bella and threw this book back into the fiery pits of hell where it belongs.

Oh 13-year-old Annabel, what were you thinking? Why did you love this book so much? I know what you were thinking: you wanted to fall in love, get married, have lots of babies, and be a mother and wife above all else, because that was the life you thought God wanted you to have. There's nothing wrong with this life; but in your twenties you will discover that there is so much more in life that you didn't think was possible. It turns out you're pretty smart, you're good at math, and people are going to pay you money to do cool math things, make discoveries, and maybe one day change the world for the better! You are going to get married, but you and your husband quickly realize that you are not ready for children... maybe someday, but not yet.

Of course, none of these wonderful things would have happened to me if I went on a super sexy honeymoon, got pregnant with a vampire spawn, and put off college indefinitely. (Does Bella mention college again? I don't know, because I couldn't bring myself to finish rereading this book!) Bella had plans. She was going to go to Dartmouth! (Edward already had a house for them!) She was going to attend college, find herself, ~~have more hot vampire sex,~~ go to therapy and work through her martyr complex, ~~realize she wanted to stay human, drop Edward like a hot potato, and run back into Jacob's willing arms,~~ graduate, and then maybe get pregnant and become a vampire after becoming a more fully formed adult with interests outside of her ~~slightly abusive~~ husband.

I do not begrudge Bella's decision to keep her child. I know how the saga ends (believe me, I know), but I had forgotten that for a few precious days Bella had plans to attend college as a human. The bitter disappointment of this knowledge was too much. That, coupled with what I knew was coming: Jacob falling in love with his ex-girlfriend's infant daughter. I'm not even going to unpack this. Maybe I'll try to reread Breaking Dawn again when I'm more mentally stable. Based on this so called book review (more like a diary entry... why am I publishing this on the internet?), I still have a long way to go.

Thoughts:

I love the elevated spice in this book like it’s not much but it’s enough
Seth is a uwu teddy bear
Jacob attending the wedding gets points in my book (but for the record it doesn’t offset the negative balance Stephanie has for writing that he imprints on a CHILD)
Anytime I get an Edward Jacob pissing contest it makes me so happy
Emmett is such a good big brother
I will say Edward has some rizz… but him getting so upset over some bruises come on honey
I hate (lothe) the whole imprinting on a baby or a child is so absolutely fucked up because at the end of the day it’s grooming. Point blank. Fucked up
Jacob is such a whiney crybaby in this
I really don’t know why Bella wanted the demon baby jacob was right in hating it at first lmao
“I had not been born to kneel to him” YAS JACOB STAND UP TO SAM YOU ALPHA

Jacob’s pov is my fave outside of Edwards
I think overall Carlisle is one of my favorite characters he is so kind hearted and just has the purest soul
Rosalie is kinda pissing me off like I thought we were over the Bella hating but now she would not care if she died as long as the baby is okay…
Jacob’s pov always makes me so sad
My lothing of Jacob just takes off after he imprints whyyyy did Mormon Stephanie Meyer make Jacob a predator 😭
Bella’s whole monologue trying to survive after giving birth had me weak it feels written by a middle schooler 😭

Overall if you’ve read the series you gotta finish it off but Jacob drives me bonkers in this book. He deserved to be written better 😭

Great conclusion to the Twilight series. Loved the section that was told through the words of Jacob!

I love this. It's impossible not to give 5 stars. I was disappointed in one point tho. There's no fight scene. Like? Wtf? I watched the films firsts. So I was expecting the final fight scene in the book too. But there wasn't... unfortunately. It would be amazing to read it.
