The writing here is absolutely excellent, just the story wasn't as much for me. Even if the arc overall was both satisfying and something I enjoyed. The early parts of the story were pretty off putting for me.

This was a solid portrayal of going through crisis while still trying to hold onto your life. I would have liked to see more change at the end, or addressing the trauma in her past. But overall it was well done, and struggling even after “getting better” is an important piece of the process

I really enjoyed reading this book. At first the main character got on my nerves but seeing everything come crashing down made me have sympathy for her. I enjoyed the relationship she had with her friends. The texts were a great touch. I like that mental health and therapy were apart of the story. It shows how easy things can just slip out of control with all the pressures Black women face in life. I really liked reading about Queenie’s relationship with her family particularly around her mental health issues. I’m pleased with how the book ended and I appreciate the discussion questions in the back.
