Excellent interweaving narratives of the lives of these three mothers. There were definite moments of creative liberties, but they add good context to the childhoods of King, Malcolm, and James Baldwin.

Really wanted to like this book, such a worthy topic. Lack of original sources led to too much speculation. Didn't care for all three women being discussed together. Writing was subpar, on the level of college undergraduate.
