4.5 stars. This came across my radar after I heard about the ABC show earlier this summer, and I decided to read this first before checking out the show. I'm glad I did, because while I liked the show, I found the book to be far superior (and it also has the benefit of not ending on a cliffhanger). I'm not a huge Romeo and Juliet fan and don't remember it well since I read it freshman year of high school which was a million years ago now, so Shakespeare purists might have more issues with the plot than I did, but I really enjoyed it. Benvolio/Rosaline was such a good romance — my favorite kind of enemies to friends/partners to lovers, with both doubting the other's feelings and angsting over one another until they finally figure things out. It was just really lovely and made me really happy.

Me ha gustado bastante. Me ha parecido original, aún partiendo de una obra existente. Me ha gustado la protagonista y la química con su contraparte masculina. La evolución de los personajes me ha gustado y también las vueltas de tuerca.
Cuando termine vi su adaptación que se toma todas las libertades y es como otra historia, pero que también me gustó y me apenó que la cancelasen.
Respecto al libro la verdad es que no tenía expectativas y me ha resultado entretenido y ligero.

This was okay. I really liked the story, but I kept getting hung up on (what I felt like) was a bit of inconsistency in the language (thee and thou when speaking, but then the rest of the writing felt much more modern).

I would give it four stars, if the dialect was not so darn awful. I love Shakespeare, and to have a modern day writer try to attempt the classic English language, please give me a break. This was no Shakespeare.
That moment when you’re a diehard MercutioxBenvolio shipper and then this ship comes along and now you’re shipping Rosaline and Benvolio.
The saddest thing about this book was all the mentions and reminders that Benvolio, Romeo, and Mercutio were as close as brothers and now Benvolio is the only surving member of the trio.

After The Curtain Falls
"Still Star Crossed" by Melinda Taub is a wonderful expansion upon the world of Romeo and Juliet. I admit that I always did wonder what happened after all was said and done in the play, and I feel like this novel brings all the loose plot threads from Shakespeare's masterpiece to a happy end.
I will admit, that the only reason why I read this ebook is because I watched the ABC production of it this summer and I was irritated to no end that it ended on such a cliffhanger with little chance at renewal.
I liked how this was a love story that was slow. I liked how Rosaline and Benvolio were irritated by each other at first, and I really liked how everyone more or less had a happy ending.
I highly recommend this book to any fan of Shakespeare.
