I’ve been having a rough week so a lighthearted fast paced rom com with an asexual protagonist was just what I needed :)
I love Wren so much! He’s so ‘me-coded’ lol. Like him, I can be snarky, I’m a Capricorn and when I was a senior I in high school, I also took creative writing.
I’m trying to be less generous with my five stars this year but a book that I can devour in a day is an automatic win for me.
If you like a fluffy rom com with ace rep (so happy we have those now!!) that’s fast paced then definitely give this one a read🖤💜🩶🤍

This is a kind of Ace love story I am looking for in a book. I will admit that it took me a couple chapters to clue in that are main character was male however it did not affect the story at all. As an ace individual I was happy to see the opportunity to read an ace main character, however, I was hesitant because I've been burned before. That is not what happened here. This was a beautifully written story and I was happy to see that the main character did not give up a part of themselves to be in love. I feel like this book was written very well in the teenage perspective. The way the characters spoke and acted match the very well with the way that I see teenagers in my own life.

Wren is an ACE high school senior struggling with the realities of becoming student council president on a technicality, misappropriation of the school budget, a dating app (that pretends it’s not a dating app), romance with out sexual attraction, and his vice president is also his arch nemesis. Buddy, the social media app teenagers use as a dating app, matches you based on personality and Wren hates it! So it sponsoring the valentines dance that Wren also hates all because of his VP, Leo means that Wren has a lot to be grumpy about. Testing out the app to prove to himself how awful it is leads to an anonymous friendship and anonymous crush that makes Wren realizes maybe being ACE doesn’t mean he can never have a relationship. This book was so cute, also deals with grief pretty heavily and there is lots of LGBTQIA+ rep.
