I’ve always loved Eve since I was a young girl so to read her story was really inspiring and eye opening to the reality of the industry. Love that she’s been in her soft girl era in London with her husband. It’s what she deserves.

I loved her music and enjoyed hearing a piece of her life. I hadn’t kept up with her beyond knowing she had a husband and baby. I thought the merging of her two different lives was a good contrast. I think talking about her label issues and how the industry doesn’t take black women seriously and navigating through that was a familiar sentiment. I also loved how she showed she’s matured and stepping into a new role of wife and mother without losing herself. I would’ve loved to hear more about her personally, but still learned from this.

2.5 stars, average memoir didn't really inspire or motivate me nor did it give me much about the author.  it's okay not mad I listened but wouldn't do it again or necessarily recommend it.

I had the pleasure of meeting Eve when she did a talk at the library where I work. She was very kind and down-to-earth. Is listening to the book, this translates to the page and feels very conversational. She does a great job covering all of the highlights of her career and I feel satisfied that I got a complete picture of the woman!

I love Eve. I can't get enough of her music. When I saw this was available now to listen on audio, I immediately checked it out from the library. She is wild. I will give you that. But I'm so glad I got to know more about her. Maybe I just kind of lost her journey after she stopped making a lot of music. I only watched Barbershop, and never watched the other stuff. I vaguely remember the controversary with Nicki Manaj. She's humble about the mistakes that she makes. But I did want more. I wanted to know the names of the people, because I didn't know. I wanted to know more about the beef with Dre, and why she didn't go to the funderal for DMX. I guess some things were missing, but I loved the book anyways. I especially loved her story of meeting her husband. For once, someone understood exactly what I went through meeting my husband. It was so similar that I couldn't stop smiling. Finally, someone gets it. Anyways. If you love Eve, you will love this book. However, you may not learn anything new if you've been keeping up in which I haven't. So, it was perfect for me.
