PITBULL IN A SKIRT 🐾
1999 Eve meets Jay Z and said"...female hip hop albums don't really do that well... "This was also the era of Napster, bootleggers and piracy. Eve had odds stacked against her and took it as a challenge instead of an insult and debuted #1, 3rd female in history to achieve that! 🎉💪
"Whos that girl?" made me feel like a was reliving a moment of history with a fresh perspective and deeper meaning. She challenged herself and everyone else. She talked about "The Invisible Bully," how she dealt with it, and how others can too. She also talked about the undersold women in hip-hop and how she built her own universe.
I remember when Eve blew up on the scene and my 1st thoughts was "she is tough and beautiful .

I read some of the other reviews and many of them talked about how they didn't think Eve went deep or shared much that they didn't already know but, for me, I thought that she did a good job of sharing her thougths in a blunt way as well as what was going on, especially compared to other memoirs that I have read recently. Could she have gone deeper, shared names and thrown out more dirt? Yes. However, most of these do not really drag anyone through the dirt.
I also think that this shared a lot that I didn't know because I only knew Eve's music and videos. I did not follow any of the news so I guess I would have known about stuff from that but I did not so it was all new to me.
I would love another book and of course more in depth as other readers have said but all in all, it was enjoyable.
