That which is beyond us, which is greater than the human, the unattainably great, is for the mad, or for those who listen to the mad, and then believe them.
Setting a goal of reading 10 ancient Greek book this year including the Homer(s). It is decision based in deficit.
This is powerful, alight with natural bliss and bubbles of madness. It is a shame the Gods so enjoy dispensing the latter at their whim. Pastoral nightmares, this prefigures Hoffmann and the Romantics.
This play is more spiteful than heroic. I did like it. Aside from crowd psychology and chemical issues it does [resent cautionary tale of ridiculing minority sects. The reveal is always so agonizing, it is protracted and the recipient character doesn't understand--until she does.

My favorite Euripides' Tragedy. It has everything: a cult, drugs, sex, cross dressing, and a bloody end for the stuck up prince.

After finishing this play, I just have a lot of questions. Why does Tiresias seem to make an appearance in every Greek play? lol. Couldn't Dionysus have just told everybody he was a god and done some sort of magic trick to prove it without killing people? This whole thing could have really been avoided really. As I said when I was reading Medea, I hate all of the long choral songs. To me, they are unnecessary, although in this play I will say say that they serve a bit more of a purpose than they did in Medea, but i could still do without them entirely. Overall, this play was just okay. It wasn't that good and it wasn't that bad.

Una sorpresa, después de terminar este libro sentí esa necesidad de debatir la historia con alguien. Increíble que un libro tan viejo cause eso todavía en la actualidad.
