While Emma is my least favorite of Austen’s heroines, this story is delightful.
slow-paced
This was a delightful read. The book is set after the events of Emma, with Emma having settled into a life of marital bliss with Mr. Knightley. All is well in Highbury until she and Harriet come across the dead body of the dreaded Mrs. Elton and Emma decides she is gonna to play detective.
I thought the characterization was done really well. I kept picturing the actors from the 2009 BBC adaptation while reading the book. I look forward to reading future books from this series.
Thanks as always to NetGalley for the ARC.

This was a promising read- a cozy mystery based on the characters of Jane Austen's Emma, but, unfortunately, I got bogged down in the middle and realized I couldn't push through to the end. The murderer was pretty obvious from the beginning, and I couldn't handle the utterly boring conversations nor the characters any longer. While I wasn't expecting it to be Jane Austen, I ultimately found this one wasn't worth finishing.

Thank you NetGalley and Tantor Audio for the ARC of this audiobook for my honest review
It just dragged on for me I think, I was suprised to say I didn’t like this because I love a historical fiction and a mystery and put them together I thought I’d love this but it didn’t feel like I could do much detective work myself, there weren’t many clues and it just felt like it kept going and I was getting pretty bored. I did like the ending just it was a drag to get there.
