This is exactly my kind of setting and plot, but this should have been 100 pages shorter. There was so much repetitive dialogue. The author really belabors her point and is heavyhanded. The characters and how they speak was annoying. I found it hard to keep track of all the characters. I guessed the murderer very early on, so I feel it was made too obvious. I don't know if I would try the next book in the series since I'll probably have the same complaints.
Meh. This was okay, but I was bored with a lot of it, especially in the beginning, which I found really repetitive. Things happen, and then the reader sits through the event being relayed several times. Plus, I guessed the murderer quite early. What saved this from being a total flop for me was the interactions between Emma and George. It's very sweet. And though the book's romance is closed-door, I found it endearing that the reader is in on the closing of that door. All in all, this isn't a real winner for me, but it's not horrid either.

I truly enjoyed this mystery and it was wonderful revisiting all the familiar characters of Jane Austen’s much beloved story: “Emma.”. From Emma & Knightley, Frank & Jane Churchill, the Martins, Miss Bates, & Emma’s father, to the annoying Mr. Elton, I felt like I was reacquainting myself with old familiar friends. The mystery kept me guessing with each new clue Emma discovers. There are quite a few suspects, and while I guessed who it might be fairly quickly, but couldn’t stop reading leading up to the dramatic conclusion; to make sure I was correct. I am hoping Emma and Knightley find another mystery to investigate.
